Italy has so much to offer in terms of culture. They have both world’s heritage and developed local culture. It is hard to make a mistake if you want to experience Italy and its culture up close. The first association for everyone needs to be Rome. The capital! The Vatican and Coliseum come to mind. We’re on the same page here we bet. How about Florence? The synonym for a renaissance. You can’t stop there. The city of Sienna? The entire city is Unesco’s world heritage. It is mesmerizing.

Move to Turin. How about the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, Turin, Italy where the Shroud of Turin is kept? We could go on and on. The list of cultural sites in Italy goes beyond Rome and Turin. You also have Milan, Verona, Venezia, and Naples. Every part of the land is covered with cultural and historic heritage. Piazza del Duomo in Pisa is another place where tourists flock in millions. Leaning Tower is a monument you must see during your lifetime.

There’s no escaping it. This location is almost as famed as the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Mount Etna, Sardinia, Syracuse, and Sicilia are also places you must see. You must believe us when we say it. Italy is a must-see land in its entirety. While you explore cultural heritage you can also think and you’ll desire some local cuisine and wine. Let’s talk about that.

These two go together so well. Italy has one of the world’s best cosines. You can start with what made it famous – pizza. Don’t leave Italy without trying some of the best Neapolitan pizzas. Every region has some variation of this dish and if you feel up for it, try it across the country. Of course, we’d like to recommend classic Italian dishes such as spaghetti and lasagna.

These dishes are prepared all over the world, but they taste special when tried in their homeland. It must be because of the tomatoes and olive oil. Pasta is what you should be focused on. Some of the best variations are made in Tuscany and Rome. Do not leave the capital without trying their Spaghetti a la Carbonara. Beyond that, you can go with fried rice balls called Arancini, their dough called Focaccia, and some of the best cheeses you’ll ever taste.

We could go on and on, but Italy has amazing cuisine. Whatever you try it will not be a mistake. But, don’t forget the local customs. Italians love to have wine with their food. You should follow suit. That’s why we’re going to dedicate our next few paragraphs to some of the best Italian wines you’ll encounter while traveling through Italy.

Italian Wines

Italy is famous for many things. Wines to the list. Some of the world’s oldest and best wineries are located in Italy. This region has plenty to offer in this department. But, if you want to experience the real wine culture of Italy, and taste the wines as it was intended you’ll have to go off-road. Wineries in Italy are still old school. They’re mountain-based, old vintage houses, and resorts that will make you feel like you’ve traveled back in time.

Of course, some locations offer high luxury if you need that, but doing it the old-fashioned way is the best if you ask us. So, if you’re willing to follow our recommendation, start by paying a visit to Tuscany Countryside. That’s right we’re talking about wine tastings in one of the landscapes you saw in movies. Fattoria di Montecchio would be a great place to start.

If that, by any means, is not your cup of tea, don’t worry. We have you covered. Another spectacular location is located by Lake Como. There you have villas tied to the Domaso wineries and it could be the experience of your life. Como is a place where rich Italians and Hollywood superstars go for vacation and buy villas. It is also the home of one of Europe’s biggest casinos.

So, you can act like James Bond while in Como and enjoy some wine instead of martinis. Even if these two places are not to your tastes, go even back into the past. Not far from Lazio, Rome you will find a village called Borgo. There you can try wines as they did in the medieval ages. Italy has everything for everyone, regardless if we’re talking food and wine or culture. It has it all!
